This is the architecture we believe in.
Phase 1 – Consolidating Operations
The first phase of the Hertex Distribution Centre was conceived to bring together various disconnected operations—storage, production, and administration—into a single, purpose-built facility. The primary warehouse space is large and efficient, supporting the movement and storage of fabrics, wallpapers, furniture, and homeware.
Adjoining this, the office component accommodates financial and administrative functions. The client’s request for a building with architectural presence—rather than a generic industrial shed—led to a clean, distinctive façade that reflects the company's design-driven ethos.
Phase 2 – Expanding for Creativity
Shortly after the completion of Phase 1, Hertex identified the need for additional warehouse space and the integration of their creative departments onto the same site. This prompted Phase 2, which included a second warehouse on the adjacent lot and a new office annexe.
The new structure houses a collaborative workspace and a fully equipped photographic studio for both stills and video production. Due to City-imposed parking requirements, the office volume was elevated, with directors’ parking placed beneath. This led to the use of bespoke precast Y-shaped columns—fabricated on-site—which support the suspended office structure and add a unique structural rhythm to the architecture.
